If I had to name my favorite comic book series ever, it’d be a toss up between the Paul Smith run on Uncanny X-Men and the Bill Sienkiewicz stint on the New Mutants. Sooner or later I’m going to make some Sienkiewicz-styled New Mutants customs. In the mean time, I still need to finish off my X-Men Evolution versions.
To make the Cannonball custom, I began by reworking a DC Direct Impulse figure. Just like I mentioned on my Avalanche commentary, the Impulse body was lean and stylized enough to fit in stylistically with that of X-Men Evolution. I removed Impulse’s feet and replaced them with boots from an X-Men Evolution Logan figure. The head comes from a Disney Atlantis Milo figure. I might make the figure a tad larger over all, but he’s proportionate by himself. Magic Sculpt is used to finish off all the other surface details.
Cannonball was always my favorite of the New Mutants. I can’t express just how happy I was when he appeared in the X-Men Evolution cartoon.
