This is a painting of Magdalena. Originally, my dog Wrigley was resting on her lap as well, but he found the modeling tiresome and ventured off to a different room. He’s done that with almost every painting I’ve attempted featuring him.
As far as the painting is concerned, at this stage of my growth, I was still incorporating a significant amount of ink work into the acrylics. It was an experiment trying to merge an illustration style with painterly colors. It’s an interesting effect, but these days I prefer separating the two approaches, keeping the inks separate from my acrylics.
