For as long as I can remember, the family of my good friend Manuel has treated me as one of their own. The Christmas dinners, the random summer visits… I was friends with the entire family, and cherish the wealth of memories.
One time while visiting them in Texas, Manuel’s mother asked if I might be able to create for her a painting of her family. She asked that it be based off an old black and white photo taken from when she was a child (that’s her being held towards the upper right). It only took me 2 years to sit down to paint it, but I am very pleased with the final result. The Gonzales family has always been so loving towards me and my wife, and I was thrilled to present the artwork to them for Christmas 2007.
