American Artist: Watercolor Magazine - Create an Acrylic Portrait Step By Step

Hello, everyone!

In early 2011, AMERICAN ARTIST MAGAZINE approached me, asking if I might be interested in writing an acrylic portrait demo for their magazine. I was only to happy to oblige and thrilled at the opportunity.

The Sketchbook Project: 2011

I realize that it’s been ages since I’ve updated the site. That’s not to say I haven’t been keeping busy, though. There have been quite a few projects in the works that haven’t made it onto the site; one of which is my contribution to the SKETCHBOOK PROJECT: 2011!

It’s like a concert tour, but with sketchbooks.

Last year, the Brooklyn Art Library had a call for entries, looking for artists to participate in the Sketchbook Project: 2011. Each participating artist would receive a Moleskine sketchbook with a barcode on it, a theme to create the book around, and detailed instructions about the project. My theme was Face in the Crowd.

Hey everyone!

Well, maybe “new” isn’t quite the right word. I painted this a year ago, and have been holding it back while I worked on additional paintings. That said, it’s been long overdue to get this painting out there.

San Diego– What do you get when you mix Mez-Itz, the hot new Designer Vinyl toy from Mezco, and 60 famous artists, designers, and F/X artists?

Conceived as a celebration of its new collectible toy line, the Mez-Itz Art Show displays the amazing versatility of the Mez-Itz deceivingly simple design. Rather than only turning to artists to create custom figures, Mezco thought outside the box and reached out to designers and F/X artists as well. Iron-Cow Prod. is proud to unveil the Iron-Cow 10th Anniversary Mez-Itz Figure.

Click on the photo above for more pics! The Iron-Cow Mez-Itz Art Show entry is currently on display at booth 4145 at the epicenter of pop culture known as San Diego Comic Con. This year the festivities from July 22nd-26th and the Mez-Itz will be displayed for the entirety of the convention! Look for a New York show to be announced soon!

Almost every week for the past couple of years I receive emails asking about the downloadable TARDIS. People were having issues downloading the file and printing it properly. I *finally* went back and revamped the project, so now it should be a breeze to work with.

Click either the image above or HERE to view the “Make Your Own Doctor Who TARDIS” entry. The file is formatted to print on 11×17″ cardstock, but you can print a smaller version on regular letter paper.

The project is free for personal use (so *no* commercial projects or reselling), but other than that, have fun! Be sure to send me any pics of your completed piece. I’d love to check them out!
