In the summer of 2017, I took a Figure Distortion painting class at the School of Visual Arts. The painting started off somewhat uninspired, a rather pedestrian approach to a figurative work. I sat with the piece for a year, and then decided to revisit it. By repositioning the canvases in a new orientation, it helped add an additional layer to the narrative I felt had been previously missing.
